About the event
Nature Journaling
3 consecutive Saturdays: March 14, 21, and 28
With Elizabeth MacCrimmon
$30 for non-members / $25 for members. Registraion fee covers all three sessions and materials.
4-10 participants
Elizabeth will be your guide to the nuts and bolts, what materials you need and how to use them.
She will help you discover your subject and design and share techniques using pen, ink, watercolor, watercolor pencils and how to transfer designs to watercolor paper.
Participants are encouraged to bring the following if they would like:
- Laptop or smart phone if you have one, but not required
- Photos of plants or animals you would like to draw, but not required
- Favorite poems to be incorporated into your drawing, but not required
The following will be provided, or you may bring your own if you prefer:
- Graphite pencils HB or B lead. Pencil sharpener
- Kneaded eraser
- India Ink bottle and/or Walnut ink bottle, Calligraphy pen point holder and Speedball #512 pen tip or Pigma Micron pen permanent ink size 01.
- Round tip watercolor brush size 6-8. Winsor Newton is nice, but almost any brush works
- Medium sized white plastic palette with paint mixing area
- Tracing paper and watercolor paper (5”x8” is a nice size)
- Acrylic matte medium for collage (if interested in collage)
- Exacto knife or scissors
- Ruler
- Watercolor pencils, at least a set of 12
- Watercolor pan set ( or tubes if you have them)
Winsor Newton is preferred for watercolors. But feel free to bring whatever you own
The recommended colors are Transparent Yellow or Cadmium Yellow, Quinacridone Red, Permanent Rose, French Ultramarine Blue, Winsor Blue (Green shade), also called Phtalo Blue and Burnt Umber.
