ARTservancy 2027–2028

Applications are open through October 31, 2026.

ARTservancy is a year-long artist residency program offered by Gallery 224. The program connects artists with protected natural areas and conservation partners, providing time and space to observe, explore and create work inspired by the land.

​

Selected artists will spend 2027 engaging with an assigned conservancy site and developing a body of work inspired by that experience. The resulting work will be exhibited at Gallery 224 in 2028.

​

Artists working in a variety of media and disciplines are encouraged to apply.

​

Artist & Site Placement

​

Applicants will be asked to identify two preferred land partners; however, preferences cannot be guaranteed. Final placements will depend on artistic fit, site capacity, land-partner participation and the overall composition of the ARTservancy cohort.

What to Expect

​

Selected artists should be prepared to:

• Visit and engage with their assigned site throughout 2027.

• Participate in periodic ARTservancy check-ins and program communication.

• Develop a cohesive body of work inspired by the residency experience.

• Participate in a curated exhibition and artist reception at Gallery 224 in 2028.

• Include opportunities for artwork to be offered for sale as part of the culminating exhibition.

Programming opportunities may include site visits, artist talks, workshops and features through ARTservancy’s community and conservation partners.

A complete ARTservancy application includes:

• The completed online application form

• Five images of recent artwork

• A short artist bio of no more than 150 words

• A résumé or CV

File Requrements

Artwork images: JPG/JPEG or PNG
Please do not submit HEIC files. Images should be clear, properly oriented and suitable for viewing on a screen.

 

Artist bio and résumé/CV: PDF preferred; DOC or DOCX files are also accepted.

Label each artwork image:

lastname_firstname_title_medium

 

Please keep the combined email attachments under 20 MB. If necessary, send the files in multiple emails and label the subject lines Part 1 of 2 and Part 2 of 2.
